Introduction:
It is widely acknowledged that research and other creative activity are part of the core mission of a university. The involvement of both faculty and students in research enhances learning by the students, keeps faculty current within their fields but most importantly, creates new knowledge that is a public good. Realising this need Higher Education Commission desired all universities to establish "The office of Research, Innovation & Commercialization (ORIC)" to develop and sustain a dynamic research sector that could make a major contribution towards economic prosperity through knowledge exchange. In order to promote research environment and build a critical mass of researchers to be involved in quality research. "The Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization" has now been established at FUI for providing, strategic and operational support to research development, innovation, inventions, commerciallization, patents, intellectual property rights, collaboration with all stake hodlers and for arranging seminars/symposium/conferences/workshops, etc.
Vision:
To create an environment that will enable the university to enhance its status as a premier research university based upon its accomplishments and reputation in quality research. It also focuses toward achieving thenological competitve edge and a wold class status for the FUI.
Mission:
The mission of the ORIC is to establish a strong research culture, Commercialization and Innovation within a dynamic, efficient and effective team of scientists and researchers and to motivate them to play an active role to plan, strategize and to materialize the vision and mission of the FUI. In addition, the ORIC comes and creates good working relationship with toher higher learning institutions, industries and donor agencies especially HEC, PSF, British Council and ICT R&D Funds etc. in the activities that can enhance enterpreneurship, academic and research excellence. Strengthening of infrastructure, policy and processes to facilitate research initiatives for keeping pace with the ever expanding frontiers of knowledge & serving at the cutting edge of technological development.
