The Physiology Department is one of the largest department at FUMC. It has a highly qualified faculty with vast experience of teaching and research. The department is approved by Pakistan Medical & Dental Council for conducting graduate courses in Physiology.
The department currently has strengths in areas ranging from cellular and molecular biology involving study concerning cardiovascular respiratory and motor control. Indeed the particular strength of the department is its broad programmes of research for example in the Neurosciences and Respiratory Physiology recognized by the college of Physicians & Surgeons of Pakistan for post graduate course i.e. FCPS in Physiology. It interacts with all other departments in the faculty of life sciences particularly the Departments of Anatomy Biochemistry and Pharmacology. This department enjoys stronger interactions with clinical departments such as the Department of Medicine Anesthesiology Cardiology Ophthalmology and Gynaecology.
