Orthopaedic literally means straight child. Orthopaedic Surgery is the branch of Surgery which deals with disease of bones, joints, muscles, tendons and Nerves. The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery consists of OPD, Operation Theater and Orthopaedic ward. Ward is 40 bedded which includes male, female and paediatric sections. The Department is fully recognized by PM&DC for undergraduate teaching and house job. It is also recognized by the College of Physician and Surgeons of Pakistan (CPSP) for Post Graduate training in this discipline. The department has experienced and dedicated faculty which imparts training to the undergraduate and postgraduates. Teaching / training programmes of the students include lectures, tutorials, case presentations and seminars. Students are imparted teaching / training in wards, in OPD and also encouraged to observe and sometimes even assist in Orthopaedic Operations. They are also being introduced and encouraged to develop thinking process by modern teaching modalities e.g. problem based learning and coordinated teaching / learning.
