The department of Neurosurgery FUMC is responsible for managing Neurosurgical emergencies and elective neurosurgical patients admitted through OPDs.
At present the Department has one operation day i.e Friday and two OPD days i.e Wednesday & Saturday.
The surgery currently being performed by the department are:
- V.P. Shunts
- Disc Surgery
- Meningocoeles & Meningomyelocoeles.
- Encephalocoeles
- Brain Tumours
- Spinal Tumours
- Surgery for Intracranial Haematomas
- Other Trauma- Related Surgery
The academic activities of the department include lectures on important Neurosurgical topics that have relevance to clinical practice Clinico-Pathological Conference and clinical training of the students in the wards.
