The college has a short but rich history of institutional development. The College started as a Teacher Training Institute (TTI) and held that status from 1990 to 1999. In the year 2000, TTI was upgraded and named as Fauji Foundation College of Education (FFCE). In 2002, FUI was granted Federal Charter and FFCE started functioning as Foundation University College of Education (FUCE). Subsequently MPhil and PhD programs were added. The year 2005, saw further development and a new name Foundation University College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (FUCLAS) was given to FUCE keeping in view the broader role it has to play in future.
